Six out of 10 home movers believe the current market favours buyers, with people in Scotland the most likely to hold this opinion and Londoners the least likely, a study from property analyst Rightmove has found. While much of the market has stagnated, London has been boosted by demand from overseas buyers, and analysts have predicted this trend will continue in 2012 as the city prepares to host the Olympics. ‘Uncertain housing market’ forecast

Edinburgh property values have risen by 509 per cent.

Next year will see an "uncertain and fragmented" housing market in the UK, Rightmove predicted, after 2011 ended with a 2.7% drop in average asking prices. The property website said that while UK asking prices should rise by 2% in 2012, house hunters will find areas with a lack of choice and high prices or a glut and bargains all within a few miles of each other. THE Scottish housing market has seen over £2 billion worth of property sold since the start of 2011 – with the picture brightening in Perthshire. Google is experimenting with another foray into the mainstream UK housing market, but this time with the launch of a mortgage comparison website. This now appears on the very top of the page when you google keywords such as ‘compare mortgages UK’, ‘mortgages UK’ and even just ‘mortgages’.
