Every 60 seconds in social media (infographic)

60-seconds-social-2-1 Infographic

This post was mentiond on venturebeat A single minute may be barely enough time to construct a rational thought, but it’s time enough for social media denizens to inundate the web with their status updates, tweets, checkins, and photos. Every 60 seconds in social media, two million videos are viewed on YouTube, 700,000 messages are delivered by way of Facebook, 175,000 tweets are fired off into the ether, and 2,000 Foursquare check-ins tell the world where we are. If the volume of all this social media activity doesn’t astound you, perhaps a visual representation of the data will … [Read more...]

New Facebook app set to launch to sell houses

PropertyPlace logo

The first use of social media as a specific platform for the proactive selling and letting of residential property is set for launch this month. Entrepreneur Sohail Rashid has created a property application on Facebook that enables home owners, agents and landlords to advertise property for sale, rent and room-share via their Facebook profile. The app is due to be launched later this month and is currently available in a beta version (see the link below), which Rashid says has already attracted more than 50 agents to sign up. More agents seem likely to respond, via a database of … [Read more...]

Resistance Is Futile – The Growth of Social Media

social media icons

Hard to believe that Social Media still has to be “sold” to some in the world of property marketing.  What’s up with that really? Is it resistance to change? Or is it that the resisters are too old to learn?  Let's deal with all the objections in one fell swoop. None of your issues matter! I know it changes your idea of privacy. I know it opens your brand up to people who might say mean things. I know it will take resources to manage. But instead of worrying about any of those things, you need to be worried about not being at the social party. The fact is that most people now … [Read more...]

Creepy and fascinating, Ikea using facebook profiles as decorating tools

ikea_youtube_bedroom

Creepy and fascinating, Ikea has just launched Happy To Bed, a new digital feature in which the Swedish furnishings chain's long tentacles reach deep within the ether of the Internet, grab hold of Facebook statuses, and use them to personalise virtual bedrooms. Here's how: Users are first asked who's in their bedroom—one person, two people, two people and a baby—and how long they've been sharing their bedroom with said people. Then the on-screen graphic changes to a gray background, upon which a "cube" of Facebook statuses—words, expressions, etc.—takes shape. Finally, the screen … [Read more...]

Social Media Fatigue?

social media icons

Great advise from Chris Brogan. One of the biggest pushbacks I hear from people when I talk about how wonderful I think Google+ will be for business professionals is that they’re tired. They’re tired of having to think up even more content for yet another platform, after having finally committed to Facebook or Twitter or wherever else. Social Media Fatigue For a lot of people, the fatigue comes from that sense that they’re … [Read more...]

How are the Top 15 House Builders using social media?

social media icons

Great research from Pauley Creative. Yesterday, I did an analysis on the top 15 construction companies and how they utilised their social media profiles to enhance brand perception, improve customer service, educate and engage with the rest of the construction market.  This analysis follows the same format and criteria but this time focuses on the top 15 house builders within the UK. Again, I used the data produced by The Construction Index. I analysed the Twitter profile for each house builder and checked to see if they were actually Tweeting and engaging with their followers, … [Read more...]
