Another 1,000+ New Agent Branches for Zoopla

Zoopla.co.uk has announced that, in its first quarter of this year, the company has added nearly 1,200 new estate and letting agent branches to its website, bringing its total number of paying members to almost 12,000. Making this the largest quarterly increase in advertisers for the property portal since its launch four years ago. Zoopla now has 600,000 property listings available on its website. Chinese TV network plans global real estate portal

In January we saw that the UK property portal market is dominated by Rightmove.  We also saw that even acting as a group, The Digital Property Group is unable to surpass Rightmove. To no ones surprise this has not changed in February. All numbers are prepared using Google Ad Planner’s February 2012 numbers. Rightmove’s Android app reviewed

Rightmove has launched a property search app for Android, adding to an existing portfolio that includes iPad and iPhone apps, and a mobile-optimised site that sees 835,000 visits a month. The app features a Google Street View function, full screen photos and floor plans, and allows users to contact estate agents directly. Rightmove communications manager Tom McGuigan said that aim of the new app was to make searching for properties easier and quicker for Android users. Last week we published a list of the top 10 property portals in the UK by a number of measures – most notably unique users as reported by Google Ad Planner. The results clearly showed Rightmove as head and shoulders about the competition. The team at the Digital Property Group pointed out that when they sign up an advertiser, they don’t get just one site but actually three – findaproperty.co.uk, primelocation.com and globrix.com. In the UK market, Rightmove dominates.  In fact this has really not changed for the last 5 – 10 years. Back in 2005, the property portal market had four main players – Rightmove, Primelocation, Findaproperty and Propertyfinder. In 2009 Zoopla acquired propertyfinder for a bargain to rocket itself into the top three. Once again they have delivered outstanding results and have showed the world that continued profitable growth can be achieved by focusing on one thing and doing it exceptionally well. For the 12 months ended 31 December 2011, Rightmove grew revenues by 19% from GBP 81.6m (US$129.5m) to GBP 97.0m (US$153.9m).
