Almost half of consumers in the UK feel that now is a good time to buy property as confidence in the housing market remains stable despite the gloomy economic outlook predicting that the country could be heading for a double dip recession. The 14th quarterly Property Tracker survey from the Building Societies Association (BSA) shows that 44% would buy now compared with 41% in the March survey. The National Association of Estate Agents (NAEA) has revealed its predictions for the UK property market over the next 12 months. NAEA chief executive Peter Bolton King said 2012 will see a ‘gradual’ recovery for the UK property market, as it continues to bounce along the bottom. For many property portals, download totals for iPhone apps are definitely something to crow about. zillow.com, rightmove.co.uk and immonet.de are just three examples of portals that have reported record download totals for their apps over the past year. An agent with a one-office operation has been told by Rightmove to expect a 21% increase in charges next year. The agent said he was astonished that, with another tough year facing the industry, Rightmove could come up with such an enormous hike. He has been told he will be paying £490 a month – up from £405. Housebuilder Persimmon Homes gets £20 million Affordable Rent cash

Housebuilder Persimmon has signed the largest private sector developer contract with the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) to date as part of the Government’s Affordable Homes Programme. It will be allocated more than £20 million to build nearly 2,000 homes across England. Other private developers that have already secured Government cash as part of the programme are Dunelm Accord Homes and Jessup Brothers with £8.6 and £3.6 million respectively.
